CEREMONY: Never the Same Band Twice (With Ross Farrar & Anthony Anzaldo)

This week we're joined by vocalist Ross Farrar & guitarist Anthony Anzaldo of the great CEREMONY ... From childhood friends to lifelong bandmates, we learn all about their individual introductions to punk and hardcore music and how that eventually lead to the fateful formation of now legendary bay area hardcore band, Ceremony. From the aggressive hardcore origins of their demo, first 7", and first 2 LPs, to their first big evolution and breakout Rohnert Park, all the way to their newest (and possibly best) album Tell Me Your Dream, we discuss everything in between, and the many "Gauntlets" in between that got us here. A thoroughly fun, fascinating inside look at what is truly one of the defining underground bands of the last 20+ years. Enjoy this monumental 3 hour chat. ___________ HardLore: A Knotfest Series, fueled by Monster Energy Edited by Steven Grise Title sequence by Nicholas Marzluf • Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes! • Join the HARDLORE DISCORD ! • HardLore Official Website/HardLore Records store • Get your passes & tickets to AFTERSHOCK FEST to see the craziest lineup to maybe ever hit Sacramento! • Get 10% off MILLS VINTAGE site-wide with code HARDLORE. ____________ 00:00:00 - Start 00:02:00 - CEREMONY 00:04:52 - Rohnert Park, California 00:12:46 - Ross & Anthony's First Bands (Hammer Time) 00:17:31 - The Origin of Ceremony 00:28:39 - RUINED 7" 00:43:17 - VIOLENCE VIOLENCE 01:01:14 - Pardon This Interruption... 01:03:27 - SCARED PEOPLE EP, Signing to Bridge Nine 01:12:28 - STILL NOTHING MOVES YOU 01:23:15 - ROHNERT PARK 01:38:39 - Rohnert Park Live at the Hollywood Palladium 01:46:14 - Signing to Matador 01:50:43 - The List of Every Ceremony Show Ever 01:53:02 - ZOO 02:10:08 - THE L-SHAPED MAN 02:14:58 - Ross Goes Back To School 02:19:43 - Reception To L-Shaped Man 02:30:21 - Relapse Records & IN THE SPIRIT WORLD NOW 02:39:18 - How Ceremony Handled 2020, Almost Breaking Up 02:43:16 - TELL ME YOUR DREAM (CEREMONY'S BEST RECORD?) 02:58:01 - Misconceptions of Ceremony 03:05:00 - Top 4 Hardcore Records
