Mark Porter: FLOORPUNCH, 90’s Hardcore, Straight Edge, Death Metal

We're finally joined by Floorpunch vocalist Mark Porter for an in-depth, comprehensive conversation about the entire history of one of the best straight edge hardcore bands ever. From the first time Porter witnessed someone Floorpunching at a show, their initial formation after being collectively frustrated at a Snapcase show while lamenting what hardcore had become by 1995, all the way through to their legendary "last show" at CBGBs with Breakdown and the Cro-Mags. Grab your copy of Shining Life Press' incredible Floorpunch book, follow along with this extensive firsthand account of Floorpunch from 1995-2000 (and beyond) and enjoy this amazing episode with a bucket list guest for us and a band we love.  _______________________ Cool links:  HardLore Official Website/HardLore Records store: https://hardlorepod.com  Visit GUILTY PARTY, our favorite menswear store in North America and get 10% off site-wide with code HARDLORE: https://www.guiltyparty.co  Try AG1 at DrinkAG1.com/HARDLORE to receive a free hat, flavor sampler kit, vitamin D/K drops, and an AGZ sample.  Get 15% OFF @manscaped + Free Shipping with promo code HARDLORE at MANSCAPED.com!  _________________________ 00:00:00 - Start 00:00:49 - Introduction 00:02:23 - Floorpunch: No Exceptions 00:06:57 - Kev One in the Slayer Pit 00:09:31 - Hardcore In the 80's and 90's 00:13:54 - Straight Edge 00:15:09 - Witnessing Early Floorpunching 00:17:22 - Aunt Carol 00:21:39 - Edge Breaks 00:25:37 - CBGB's 00:32:27 -  Porter The Sports Guy 00:38:26 - FLOORPUNCH 00:45:55 - Hearing The Demo 00:50:06 - First Show 00:53:46 - Floorpunch Straight Edge vs Earth Crisis Straight Edge 00:55:40 - The Yogurt Incident 01:01:04 - Pardon This Interruption 01:06:56 - Revisiting The Floorpunch Demo 01:13:23 - First time playing Philly 01:15:17 - Ten Yard Fight 01:16:19 - Best Floorpunch Show 01:22:28 - Division 1 Champs 01:25:12 - “Floorpunch On Gold” 01:28:28 - Playing With Breakdown 01:30:11 - Floorpunch vs Ensign Football Game 01:32:14 - Merch 01:37:30 - Death Metal 01:43:14 - Fast Times… 01:46:43 - Let It Ride 01:51:23 - Fast Times 01:57:32 - San Fransisco Brawl 02:00:19 - Todd Jones 02:02:22 - European Tour 02:09:07 - Touring The US and Food 02:11:37 - The Final Mosh 02:17:59 - Staying in Touch With Hardcore 02:20:25 - 2007 Reunion 02:22:30 - World War 4 Demo 02:26:43 - We Just Might vs Time To Forgive 02:33:08 - Greatest Straight Edge Band Of All Time 02:36:38 - 9/11 02:39:55 - Top 4 HC records of All Time HardLore: A Knotfest Series, Fueled by Monster Energy Edited by Steven Grise • Title sequence by Nicholas Marzluf Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes.
