Episode description as stored
“In life, you have to do the things that scare you.” Kam Patterson
Kam Patterson, comedian and Hollywood star, sits down with Ryan, Channing and Fred for an honest conversation about his metaphoric rise in comedy and the lessons that shaped him along the way.
Kam opens up about growing up, finding his voice through stand-up, and the invaluable advice his father gave him that continues to guide his life and career. He reflects on the mistakes he's made, the pressure that comes with sudden success, and the challenges of staying authentic while navigating the entertainment industry.
The conversation dives into Kam's breakout moments on Kill Tony, his experiences around Saturday Night Live, and the challenges he faced trying to adapt his comedic style to formats like Weekend Update. He shares how those struggles pushed him to grow as a performer and better understand his voice as a comedian. Despite recent backlash his mentor Tony Hinchcliffe has received from the black community, Kam shares a different side of working with the comedian who he credits for changing his life in ways he can’t explain.
Kam also discusses making the leap into acting and what it's been like working alongside Kevin Hart on his upcoming movie, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the opportunities and responsibilities that come with expansion, discussing the transition from stand-up stages to the big screen.
Filled with humor, honesty, and insight, this episode is a powerful conversation about resilience, self-belief, embracing challenges, and trusting the process even when the path forward isn't always clear.
From family and failure to fame and finding purpose, Kam delivers a candid, hilarious, and inspiring look at the journey behind one of comedy's fastest-rising stars. This is a conversation about perseverance, growth, and betting on yourself when nobody else sees the vision.
