Sk8LikeYou Podcast Episode 99: Ginger Mathews aka The Skate Critic

Episode 99 of the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast features one of the most fascinating voices in roller skating today. Ginger Mathews, widely known as The Skate Critic, Ginger comes from a deep rooted skating family spanning every discipline, with direct ties to rink ownership and operations. That foundation turned into a lifelong mission. For more than 12 years, she has traveled the country visiting, reviewing, and rating roller rinks while documenting their history, culture, and condition. She maintains one of the most thorough and meticulously researched libraries of rink information anywhere, covering currently operating rinks across the world as well as rinks that have long since closed their doors. From floor quality and sound systems to management philosophy, regional styles, and preservation of skating culture, her knowledge goes far beyond surface level reviews. This conversation dives into the realities of rink ownership, what separates great rinks from forgettable ones, why history matters, and how skating spaces shape communities. It is thoughtful, honest, occasionally challenging, and easily one of the most compelling discussions to ever hit the podcast. There will absolutely be a part two. If you care about roller skating, rink culture, or the future of skating spaces, this is an episode you do not want to miss. #SK8LIKEYOU #SK8LIKEYOUPodcast #Episode99 #GingerMathews #TheSkateCritic #RollerSkating #RollerRinks #SkateCulture #RinkLife #SkateCommunity #RinkHistory #SkateFamily #RollerSkateLife #SkatersSupportSkaters #RinkPreservation #SkateVoices #SkatePodcast #RollerSkateCulture #SkateHistory #VoicesAmplified
