MYSTERY: The Submarine Murder

Episode description as stored

In August 2017, Swedish journalist Kim Wall boarded a homemade submarine in Copenhagen to interview its inventor, Danish entrepreneur Peter Madsen, for a story. It was supposed to be a routine assignment, the kind of work she had done all over the world. She never came back. When the submarine sank the next day and Madsen was rescued alone, he claimed he had dropped Wall off safely on shore the night before. But his story kept changing, her body was found dismembered in the waters off Copenhagen, and the investigation that followed exposed a calculated and deeply disturbing crime. In this episode of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy examines the death of Kim Wall, a talented young reporter whose curiosity took her into a killer's confined world, the shifting lies her murderer told to cover his tracks, and the chilling portrait of ego and control that emerged once the truth came to light.
